Rick was introduced to the dental industry at the age of 9. In 1967 at 11 years old Rick and his father moved to California where his father took over his brothers dental lab. In 1973 his father offered him a job paying $100.00 a week teaching him the basics of the lab, which Rick did for about a year. Then Rick decided to try out other fields of work only to find himself coming back to the dental field in 1979 when he, his wife, daughter, and son moved back to Minnesota along with his dad and stepmother.
Rick came home and started working at Hermansons Dental Laboratory along with his father. Rick worked there for 11 1/2 years. He also worked at Valley Dental Arts for almost 2 years before receiving a position with Ralph Garding at Creative Dental, where he worked for 14 years. From there he took a job supervising the porcelain department for 10 years at Merit Dental Lab. Rick’s journey through the dental field has now landed him with Intelligent Touch and we are blessed to have his presence and expertise here at our lab. Along his journey, Rick has had several opportunities to travel within the U.S participating in many splendid lectures and hands on clinics.
Ricks hobbies are playing his guitars and doing leather work which his father was very accomplished at and introduced him to it at age 11. In Ricks own words, “I’ll close with a quote from my Dad, who by his own work taught me that “quality workmanship is worth much, while poor workmanship is hardly worth the effort”.
